Lost, Fire+Water Recap

It opens with a flashback of Charlie’s childhood. He wants to know where HIS presents are, but got a piana from Father Christmas instead. His mom puts the pressure on him, telling him he’s special and can save them all with his music. The flashback twists to a crazy scene with his dad cutting meat and Charlie and his brother Liam are now adults. Then Charlie is playing the piano on the beach as water floods around them. Aaron is in the piano, drifting out to sea, and then he wakes up.

Of course Claire and baby Aaron are fine, although Claire wants nothing to do with him.

* Another flashback, this time Charlie is a new uncle. Of course Liam is nowhere to be found. Charlie gets back to the apartment and lectures Liam to clean up and get to the hospital.

Back at the beach Hurley asks Sawyer for information on Libby while Ana Lucia and Jack are off in the jungle plotting.

Charlie jumps in the ocean to save a crying Aaron in a cradle, only to wake to find it’s the middle of the night and he’s holding Aaron at the shoreline. Claire thinks he kidnapped him and rewards him with a slap. The next day Locke accuses him of using - but he denies having any drugs left.

* Flashback to Drive Shaft dressed up in diapers to perform a diaper commercial. Liam fouls it up.

Hurley and Libby do their laundry together (isn’t that something that married couples do?) and Libby models a cute halter top she found.

Charlie confides in Eko about his dreams, and Eko says that they might mean something. Charlie tells Claire that Aaron is in danger and needs to be baptized. Locke sits on the sidelines looking ever so stern.

* Flashback to Charlie’s flat. Liam shows up at the door - he’s been kicked out for dropping the baby. Charlie performs a new song. Liam acts excited, but then asks for more drugs.

Locke catches Charlie opening one of the statues, and although Charlie says he was going to destroy them, Locke takes them with him. Locke also offers to sleep next to Claire’s tent.

I’m wondering, why is it that everyone is dressed warmly - but that poor baby is always naked except for a blanket?

Someone starts a fire in the brush. Was it Charlie? Yeah, he admits it later. Everyone leaves Claire to help put it out.

* Flashback to Liam having sold Charlie’s piano. He has agreed to go to rehab in Australia to save his relationship.

Charlie is looking evil on the beach and he sneaks off with Aaron. Claire chases him, followed by Locke and the rest of the gang. Charlie confronts everyone and says he needs to save the baby. Locke takes him and hands him back to Claire before turning and punching Charlie several times. Everyone turns away.

The next day Jack appears (where has he been all episode?) and gives Charlie some much needed stitches. Very unnecessary visual on that one!

Claire approaches Eko for a baptism - for both she and the baby.

Locke hides the drugs in the gun closet… for future use?

And poor Charlie sits alone.
