System Failure Bringing the Plane Down

So The Powers That Be have said that we would find out how the plane crashed in the Lost season finale, and we did. Desmond didn’t push the button in time.
In the forums that I visit, many people seem to be in an uproar. How could it be an accident? How could the Others know all about them and have their names to begin kidnapping them if it was an accident? How could their lives be intertwined if it was an accident?
But what if it wasn’t an accident? It was obvious that Kelvin wanted Desmond to follow him out of the hatch. It was apparent that they were going to hike far enough away that the button couldn’t be pushed. So perhaps Kelvin was (or is) “in” on the plan for bringing the Lost crew to the island.

they know all their names due to their numerous spies and lookouts that are clearly taking down information on their actions and, ultimately, who they are (based on their actions). they are being watched.
