Is Desmond Odysseus?

Odysseus, who was lost at sea, was married to Penelope. Desmond, who is lost at sea, loves a girl named Penelope.

First we had The Wizard of Oz, now the Odyssey! So the question becomes, does Penelope have some suitors that Desmond needs to slay?
