Find 815 - Chapter 2
Find 815
Chapter 2
Video:
Sam approaches the Christiane I. He pretends to be a cash-strapped tourist and he would help without pay. The captain, Mr. Ockham, tells Sam that there is no room. The chart plotter shorts and threatens to delay the expedition. Sam recognizes the chart plotter has a SPU board and says that he can fix it or build a new one from scratch, in exchange for a spot on the ship.
Game:
The viewer must fix the chart plotter in three minutes. If the viewer fails, Ockham tells Sukarno on the phone that he needs an expert to fix it, and the player must play again and win to advance the story.
If the viewer wins, Sam successfully fixes the electronics and earns himself a hammock on the Christiane I.
Video:
A Mr. Talbot begins to ask Sam about his interest in the Sunda Trench. Sam says he’s just looking to get away on a trip. Ockham asks why Talbot is questioning Sam. Talbot says that his employers know all there is to know about Ockham and his crew and that they have too much at stake to risk any surprises. But Sam is a mystery. Sam says he’s just a regular guy next door. Tablot mentions his girlfriend, and wonders if Sam is running away from something. Ockham tells Talbot that they need Sam aboard, as their destination could be hazardous to the electrical equipment. Talbot agrees, but says that he will install security measures.
Sam gets a mysterious email with no subject and no sender. The email contains a long string of numbers mixed with dashes and periods, eight characters are gray instead of black: - 1 1 . 1 7 8 4.
Sam receives an email back from Austral Air regarding his request for employment. Isaac Chapman from Human Resources tells him that they don’t have any suitable positions available. Sam emails Tracey and tells her that he made it aboard the Christiane !. He asks if she can find out anything about Talbot. He also asks her how her search on “black rock” is coming.
Sam also finds a website about the Sunda Trench, detailing various plane and ship wrecks that have occurred in the region.
Sam rests and examines the diamond ring he carries with him. After placing the ring on his desk, Sam discovers an old analog radio and searches for a frequency. Through the static, Sam stumbles upon a news program that discusses that radio communications with Amelia Earhart had been lost and that her last transmission had been “this morning” at 8:43.
Sam receives an email from Tracey saying she’s having trouble finding anything specific about “black rock”. She did, however, manage to dig up a little information on Talbot - he comes from a reclusive, wealthy east coast US family with a history in the diamond trade.
Clue Hunt:
The viewer must search for clues in Sam’s room.
- Move the mouse over the painting near the sink. The Season 1 clue is “Pillar of Smoke”
- Move the mouse over the wooden box on the hutch. The Season 2 clue is “Balloon”
- Move the mouse over the ping-pong paddles on the bed. The Season 3 clue is “Ping Pong”
- Click on the book on Sam’s bed. Then go to the ‘network partner’ site and play a simple memory game. The Season 4 clue word is revealed (either ‘423 Cheyenne Walk’ or ‘Daniel Faraday’). When entered in Find815.com, this reveals a bonus clue: 020 7946 0893, Penny’s number in London.
Video:
Sam receives another voice message from his mother, who is growing more concerned that he hasn’t returned her previous call. He emails the Broadcasting Authority and asks about the mysterious transmission he picked regarding Amelia Earhart’s disappearance. They respond, saying that it likely came from amateur radio enthusiasts, who sometimes broadcast historical recordings. Sam then emails Tracey asking about the video camera she lent him, as it has been malfunctioning. She says it was working when she last had it. Tracey emails again with significance of the “black rock” clue from the anonymous email Sam received. She gives him detailed information about the Black Rock slave ship.
Video Diary:
Sam records a video diary and says that he is having second thoughts about going on the expedition aboard the Christiane I. He is still unclear what any of it has to do with Oceanic Flight 815, and is skeptical about the significance of the email he received from the Maxwell Group, thinking it may be a prank. He decides that he will get off at the next port.
