Recap
Flashback:
Two ROVs underwater, a unit searching for something. Trying to get a peek over a ridge. Picking up a lot of anomalies. There’s an airplane. It’s Oceanic 815. Footage from the Christiane I.
Daniel is in a room viewing the footage of the airplane. He’s upset, but he says he doesn’t know why.
On the Island:
Next we see him in a helicopter. He parachutes out into the rain. Something comes running out of the jungle. He pulls out his gun. Jack and Kate come running in. “Hey there, are you Jack?” he asks. Jack asks who he is. “Daniel Farady. I’m here to rescue you.”
Jack asks how many people were on the chopper. “Four, including me,” Daniel says. He says he doesn’t know what happened to the rest of the and he lost his pack and phone. Jack hands over Naomi’s phone. “George, there was an electrical storm, we don’t know what happened.” Daniel says into the phone. George asks if he is on speaker. Daniel steps away. He comes back and says that he has a signal and needs help finding the others from the helicopter.
Locke stands in a clearing in the jungle, rain pouring on his face. Everyone else stands, waiting for him. The rain stops and they begin moving forward. Sawyer asks where they are going. Locke says that they are making a detour. They’re going to a cabin. “The cabin is that way,” Hurley says. “What did you say Hugo?” Hurley backtracks and says that he thought he meant the airplane cabin. Sawyer wants to know why they are going to a cabin.
“Want to tell us where you’re getting your orders from?” Sawyer asks. “I got them from Walt,” Locke replies.
Juliet and Sayid sit on the beach and chat. Sayid asks Juliet why Ben would say that these people are going to bring them harm. Juliet says that Ben is either lying, or they really are coming to bring them harm. She then asks how many guns they have.
Kate, Jack, and Daniel stumble upon the box. Daniel starts to get nervous as they pull out a gas mask and other supplies. Jack then asks why Daniel brought the gun. “Just a precaution…” Daniel says that rescuing them was not the primary objective. “Then what is?” Jack says. The signal interrupts the conversation as Daniel runs off saying “It’s Miles!”
Sawyer wants to know how Locke saw Walt and what he said to do. “Walt saved my life, I took him at his word,” Locke says. Sawyer doesn’t believe that Ben shot him but Locke lifts up his shirt. “I’d probably be dead if I still had a kidney there,” Locke says. “Anything else?” Sawyer is quite for once.
JackDanKate follow the signal until they see a parachute and body on the cliffs. Jack runs down first and removes the helmet. “Is he dead?” Kate asks. “Back up handsome,” Miles says, pulling out a gun. Daniel tells them that it is okay but Miles tells Kate to back off. “You’re Kate. Want to tell me where Naomi is? Naomi, the woman you killed. Where is she?”
Flashback:
Miles is in a car listening to a broadcast. All 324 passengers are confirmed dead. Miles knocks on a door to a Ms. Gardner’s house. They spoke on the phone earlier. She lets him in. “Which room is it?” Miles asks. “I get paid in advance.” He asks for $200 because her grandson was murdered. Miles takes the money and some equipment [a vacuum?] upstairs. “No matter what you hear, don’t come up.” He turns on the equipment and sits down on the room. He starts to freak out. “You’re not doing your grandmother any good by staying here, man. You’re causing her a lot of pain.” He then says that he’ll tell the grandmother that he’s gone “but only if you tell me where it is.” Something starts moving across the room. Miles opens it up. It’s a small packet… drugs? “You can go now,” Miles says as he leaves the room.
On the Island:
Miles says that Naomi gave a code. She didn’t have a sister, so her statement was a code saying that she was murdered. Kate says that they didn’t kill her, it was another person on the island. Miles insists that they take him to her body.
Ben tries to talk to Alex and talks smack to Karl. Sawyer steps in. Ben says that he can’t compete with Jack off the island and Kate is probably happier to be with him. Sawyer gives him a couple more bruises.
Miles does some chanting over Naomi’s body. Daniel seems intrigued by the light on the island. Kate asks him to put the gun away but Daniel says Miles would kill him. “They didn’t kill her,” Miles says. “It happened the way they said it did.”
They see another signal and start to leave. Jack tells Miles and Daniel to put the guns down, because their friends are pointing guns at their heads. “How stupid do I look?” Miles starts to say before Juliet and Sayid step out and shoot!
Flashback:
Medenine, Tunisia. A jeep drives through the desert to a tent. Charlotte sees a journal talking about the Oceanic 815 flight being recovered. They are there to look at a site. It’s a polar bear skeleton. Charlotte begins excavating and finds a Dharma logo. She smiles.
On the Island:
Charlotte gets out of a sticky predicament with her parachute, only to fall into the hands of Locke and his band of followers.
Daniel reveals that he is a physicist. Miles says if he talks any more he will personally break his fingers. Sayid wants to know why they have no reaction to the fact that they survived.
Charlotte asks the group how many people there are alive. Hurley starts chatting but Locke tells him to stop. Charlotte holds up the transponder and says if they sit tight they will get rescued soon. Locke asks what happened to the helicopter and Charlotte says she doesn’t know, the captain said to put it down. Locke tells her to get up, she is coming with us. Charlotte says that they need to stay put or they won’t be found.
She starts running, or at least seems to do based on the signal that JackDanKateSayidJuliet see on their end. The signal gets louder until Vincent bursts through the trees. “Locke’s got her,” Jack says.
Flashback:
Eleuthera, The Bahamas. Lapidus hears about Oceanic 815. The pilot was Seth Norris. They show video of the bodies in the water. He picks up the phone and calls the national hotline. “I’ve got some information on the crash,” he says. That’s not the pilot, he tells her. Lapidus says that it cannot be Seth Norris because Seth always wore a wedding ring. He’s asked how he knows Seth Norris. His response, “because I was supposed to be flying Oceanic Flight 815 that day.”
On the Island:
Lapidus comes crawling out from under some brush. A cow moos at him and walks away. His transponder appears to be damaged so he shoots a flare gun.
Charlotte is excited to know someone is there. Locke says that she’s lying and that they are not there to save them. Ben shoots her and she falls on her back. Sawyer smacks him again. Charlotte breathes. Locke unzips her jacket and she is wearing a bullet-proof vest.
Miles and Daniel ask Lapidus where the chopper crashed. “Crashed? What kind of pilot do you think I am?” he asks. He says he put it down safe and sound. Everyone walks over to the edge and looks. The helicopter is in a clearing. Jack, Sayid, and Kate grin.
Flashback:
“So this is the team,” Naomi says as she lays out pictures of the four on the island. She says that it’s going to be tough. A man stands next to her. It’s the same guy who visited Hurley in the asylum. “This is high risk,” Naomi says… without having to take care of a headcase, ghostbuster, anthropologist, and a drunk. “It’s madness,” she says. “What if we find survivors of Flight 815?” He says that there are no survivors. Naomi’s job is to get them in, get them out, without getting them killed.
On the Island:
Kate and Daniel carry Naomi’s body. Sayid says that the helicopter can definitely fly. Miles asks for the phone. Jack agrees, but wants them to tell them why they are here. Juliet cleans up Lapidus’ cut on his head. He asks her name. “You weren’t on that plane, were you?” Lapidus tells Miles that she wasn’t on the flight, that he studied the manifest. She’s a native.
Miles comes running up. “Where is he?” he yells. Jack steps in. Miles holds up a picture of Ben. “We’re here for Benjamin Linus, now where is he?”
Locke holds the gun up to Ben’s head and tells everyone to leave who doesn’t want to see this. Ben says that he has answers. “What is the monster?” Locke asks. “What is it?” Ben says he doesn’t know. “Her name is Charlotte Lewis,” Ben calls out. “Charlotte Staples Lewis,” and he names her birthday, family, background, etc. He names all of the crew’s names… “Your instinct was right John. These people are a threat.” And he says that they want him. Locke asks how he knows all this. “Because I have a man on their boat,” Ben says.
