Lost - What is Present Time in Season 5?
With the finale of Lost Season 4 we now have a variety of timelines to pursue in Lost Season 5 and beyond. We have a time on the Island where the Oceanic Six have just departed. We have everything that happens on the Island while the Oceanic Six are living their lives off the Island. And we have the time where the Season 4 finale left off, with the Oceanic Six looking to get back on the island!
The on-Island characters will mostly focus on Locke, Sawyer, Juliet, Charlotte, Miles, the Others and possibly Jin. Then, in the future, we have Jack, Kate, Sun, Sayid, Hurley, and Ben. Of course Locke is in both places, so that will be interesting!
So how will the Lost producers work the “present time” moving forward?
- Present Time is When the Island Moved:
In this option “present time” continues on the Island’s perspective and the characters continue moving forward with flash forwards to the Oceanic Six and possible character flashbacks (prior to the Oceanic crash) to fill in plotlines. - Present Time is With the Oceanic Six:
In this option “present time” continues where the final scene of Lost Season 4 left off, with the Oceanic Six trying to get back to the Island. The characters who were left on the Island could then have their story told in flashbacks, leading us to understand what happened with Locke’s leadership and his reason for leaving the Island. We could also see the Island’s current story lines being told. - Present Time is Somewhere in the Middle:
In this option “present time” lies somewhere in the middle with flashbacks and flash forwards showing us both sets of characters in their respective times.
Which option would you like to see? I think I prefer the second option!

Without a doubt option 2.
I can’t even imagine how the 1st one would work.
Although if they managed to start with the 3rd option from Daniel’s viewpoint that would be fun. That is assuming Daniel does end up travelling in time somewhere between the two times. (that’s what I figure will happen).

Izikavazo, I think the 3rd option would be interesting, but probably confusing!! It could definitely add mystery to the storyline, if they threw us into the middle of something and added the suspense of how the characters got to be at that point, and what still needed to happen to get to Locke off the Island.
