JJ Abrams’ new show gets a title & pilot director

November 9, 2009 by Robin Parrish

I’ve been telling you lately about the next show on tap from entertainment mogul JJ Abrams, creator of Alias, and co-creator of Fringe and of course, Lost. As well as a few art house movies you may have heard of, called Cloverfield and Star Trek. The new show, which will air on NBC, is described as a lighthearted adventure centering on a madly-in-love husband/wife duo who work together as spies. The show was co-created by Abrams and writer Josh Reims.

Now the show finally has a title, and it’s a nod to the playful nature of the concept. It’s being called Undercovers.

Abrams is also said to be directing the show’s pilot episode himself. Abrams has transitioned to big-screen directing of late, but he previously directed numerous episodes of Alias and the pilot of Lost. This will mark his first small-screen directing gig since he helmed an episode of The Office in 2007.
