Do not — I repeat, DO NOT — miss Ace of Cakes on the Food Network this Saturday night at 9. The entire crew from Charm City Cakes flies to Hawaii to make a cake for Lost’s 100th episode, when Hurley himself, actor Jorge Garcia, calls up CCC and orders a special cake for the celebration. The Charm City gang — all of whom are MAJOR Lost geeks — ends up getting to visit the set, meet most of the actors, and go on a full tour of the production!

This five minute teaser is every bit as good as any extra on the Lost DVD sets, and it’s only a small part of the Ace of Cakes episode. This is going to be a real treat for all Losties, right here before the season finale, so DO NOT miss it!

The break in between episodes this week got me to thinking about how there are only 3 more Wednesday nights remaining with new Lost episodes in all of 2009. We won’t see the 6th and final season until January 2010, and it will be much later this year before filming begins. So just what have Lost’s main cast members — past and present — been doing and what will they do with all that downtime?

Let’s have a look at what they’re up to, and where else they can be seen in the near future. (Note that Evangeline Lilly, Daniel Dae Kim, Terry O’Quinn, Henry Ian Cusick, Jeremy Davies, Ken Leung, and Michael Emerson are not currently listed as being involved in any other projects.)

Congratulationsare in order: Josh Holloway and his wife Yessica Kumala have a daughter. Java Kumala Holloway entered the world on April 9th in Oahu, Hawaii. Both mom and baby are doing great. Holloway and Kumala have been married for five years, and this is their first child.

That birthdate puts little Java’s arrival only days after the wrapping of Season 5. Perhaps one day she’ll follow in her dad’s footsteps — clearly, she already knows how to hit a cue.

Here are a trio of the usual videos I usually embed here for you following a new episode of Lost. I’m just sticking them all in a single post this week.

First up, everybody’s favorite episode recap, Lost Untangled, from the folks at ABC. This week’s edition is a bit longer than usual, but I found it a lot funnier than the last one.

Next, we have the Official Lost Podcast, featuring a lengthy interview with Josh Holloway on the recent changes to Sawyer. And Lindelof and Cuse answer a fan question about the significance of Geronimo Jackson to the show.

And finally, the always thought-provoking Getting Lost from TV Guide. This week, Matt Mitovich talks to Reiko Aylesworth about her character Amy, and the baby Amy just gave birth to. He also takes reader answers to what Kate did with Aaron.

The newest issue of TV Guide (January 5-11, 2009 - “2009 Preview”) contains a quick Q&A with Michael Emerson (Benjamin Linus) about the upcoming Season 5 and the future of his character. A few excerpts:

• When asked about how many of the big answers Ben knows, Emerson responds, “He knows all about the game or battle that he is involved in with Charles Widmore, and I think when the final solution comes at the end of the series, the audience will know as much as Ben does. What are they playing for? World domination? Or perhaps something more abstract.
• Jack found out in the Season 4 finale that some “very bad things” happened on the island after the Oceanic Six left. Emerson’s hint: “Something that Ben did went really wrong.” (My money is on his spinning of the frozen wheel.)

In the “Breaking News” section of the same issue of TVG, there’s a note about Sawyer’s role in the season to come. “I’ve been very busy this season, in a very different way than you’ve seen [Sawyer] before,” says actor Josh Holloway. He goes on to confirm that Sawyer will be taking on more of a “heroic leader” role for those on the island, now that Jack and Kate are both gone, and Locke is no longer part of the group.

Josh Holloway joins an all star cast in the movie Stay Cool, to be released in 2009.

The movie plot line follows an author (Mark Polish) who returns to his hometown to deliver a commencement address to a class of graduating high school students has to deal with his feelings for an old flame (Winona Ryder) as well as the advances of a student (Hilary Duff) who has the hots for him.

No official word yet on Josh’s role, although a unit publicist has said that he plays Wino, the high school buddy who encourages Polish’s character to seek out his past love. +1 … Read more
