68th Annual George Foster Peabody Awards

Lost has been recognized as one of 36 winners in the 68th Annual Peabody Awards at a live ceremony on Monday. On hand to receive the award were executive producer Damon Lindelof and actor Michael Emerson (Benjamin Linus). Emerson is pictured above. About Lost, the Peabody Awards said:

Breezily mixing metaphysics, quantum physics, romance, and cliffhanger action, the genre-bending series about a group of air-crash survivors on a mysterious island has rewritten the rules of television fiction.

Lost won alongside such honorees as Entourage, Breaking Bad, HBO’s John Adams miniseries, NBC’s coverage of the Beijing Olympics, and more. See the complete list here. The prestigious Peabody Awards recognize excellence in electronic media.

Michael Emerson says LOST’s season finale will “eat your soul”

May 11, 2009 by Robin Parrish

Solange Knowles and Michael Emerson depart the Late Night Show with Jimmy Fallon.

This is it, peeps. This week marks the last season-ending cliffhanger we will ever get from Lost. Because as you know, next year’s Season 6 is the final year of the show. And one must assume that the developments in this year’s season finale will set up most of what’s to come next year. But don’t expect a cliffhanger that leaves you feeling in any way safe…

Michael Emerson (Benjamin Linus) tells E! Online that this week’s Season 5 finale has not one but two shocking endings that will “keep audiences eating their own souls” over the extended hiatus until Season 6 begins next year. Hit the link to read more of Emerson’s thoughts on this season, the finale, and what next year may bring.

LOST on Ace of Cakes Saturday night!

May 8, 2009 by Robin Parrish

Do not — I repeat, DO NOT — miss Ace of Cakes on the Food Network this Saturday night at 9. The entire crew from Charm City Cakes flies to Hawaii to make a cake for Lost’s 100th episode, when Hurley himself, actor Jorge Garcia, calls up CCC and orders a special cake for the celebration. The Charm City gang — all of whom are MAJOR Lost geeks — ends up getting to visit the set, meet most of the actors, and go on a full tour of the production!

This five minute teaser is every bit as good as any extra on the Lost DVD sets, and it’s only a small part of the Ace of Cakes episode. This is going to be a real treat for all Losties, right here before the season finale, so DO NOT miss it!

Michael Emerson on Jimmy Fallon’s Late Night

April 20, 2009 by Robin Parrish

Actor Michael Emerson (Benjamin Linus) showed off a wonderfully quick wit and gracious manner on Friday night’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, talking about his character, the show, and his former career as a magazine illustrator (seriously! Fallon has proof!). If you missed it, here are a couple of clips from the show, courtesty of NBC. The best part is the end of the second clip, where Fallon has Emerson read “Little Boy Blue” on the spot, in the creepiest manner he can. It’s genius.

Sky1 interviews with LOST cast & producers

March 13, 2009 by Robin Parrish

Televisionary’s Jace Lacob got the chance to sit down for some on-screen interviews with various Lost personalities, on behalf of the U.K.’s Sky1 television network, and the videos from those chats are now online.

In the first, he talks to executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, asking some pointed questions about the futures of Libby, Walt, and what’s to come. (Prepare to be disappointed about at least two of those.) They also offer a definitive answer to the theory that the “Adam & Eve” skeletons are, in fact, the real Adam & Eve. (The answer: no, they’re not the real Adam & Eve. So much for that theory!)

The second video features snippets from Matthew Fox (Jack), Evangeline Lilly (Kate), and Michael Emerson (Ben). Lacob asks them how much their characters have changed from where they started, and what we can expect from them the rest of this season. Lilly talks about Kate’s mysterious decision to return to the island, and Emerson drops a big hint about who Ben answers to.

LOST’s Ben & Juliet speak

February 10, 2009 by Robin Parrish

The Daily Beast has a fun pair of interviews today with actors Michael Emerson (Ben) and Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet), two of the show’s most enigmatic characters. Nothing spoilery involved, just some fun thoughts from both actors on their characters, their mysterious pasts, and their various love interests.

Mitchell, however, does reveal that episode 5.08, “LeFleur,” is a particularly big one for Juliet.

LOST 5.03 preview/cast interviews

January 26, 2009 by Robin Parrish

A new video from ABC has turned up on YouTube, promoting this week’s episode 5.03 of Lost, entitled “Jughead.” It features actors Naveen Andrews (Sayid), Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet), and Michael Emerson (Ben) talking about time travel and Season 5 storylines. It also includes a few choice clips from last week’s season premiere.

LOST Season 5 cast interviews: Part Four

January 21, 2009 by Robin Parrish

Due to technical difficulties yesterday (my internet service was out all day, grrr), I’m condensing this planned series of 6 posts into just 5, so the last two will run today.

Part Four (see Parts One, Two, and Three) includes insights from Michael Emerson (Ben), and for all the “Jate” fans out there, both Evangeline Lilly (Kate) and Matthew Fox (Jack). There are 7 videos in all, so be sure to check them all out after the jump.

Matthew Fox: How long will it take for the Oceanic 6 to get back to the island?

Watch With Kristin interviews Michael Emerson

January 19, 2009 by Robin Parrish

Benjamin Linus himself, actor Michael Emerson, appears extensively in this week’s episode of Watch With Kristin from E! Online. He chats at length (well, as lengthily as one can in 5 minutes) about Season 5, whether or not Ben was lying about himself never getting back to the island, and what the show makes possible this season with the new time-jumping format.

Did you catch those last few bits? “Charlotte is more than she appears to be, and the nature of her connection to the island is by blood.” And he believes that Jacob’s identity is “part of the package of final answers.” I’d say that’s a very safe bet, Mr. Emerson. Those were his two most telling statements, methinks.

Theories, anyone?

LOST: Season 5 hype heats up

January 14, 2009 by Robin Parrish

I’ve got a trio of great Lost interviews to share with you today, from all around the Net, which demonstrate just how high the Hype Meter has risen in anticipation of Season 5’s premier next Wednesday.

The first (and probably best) is by The Chicago Tribune’s Maureen Ryan, aka “The Watcher,” who talks at length with Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. She has quite the in-depth interview with them, despite giving away no spoilers for the coming season. She manages to pull lots of tantalizing hints out of them, though, and even gets them to go on the record about what’s coming in Season 6.

Next up is a one-on-one with Matthew Fox from Details magazine. He talks about how much he enjoys working on the show, and says it’s a “relief” knowing that there are only two more seasons to go, that there is a definitive ending to his character’s storyline and the overall story of the show. Get inside details about Fox’s view of Jack Shephard here.

Last, New York magazine offers yet another interview with Michael Emerson. He reveals that the Temple will be seen this season on Lost, and his belief that the Others will be depicted as “less malevolent as time goes by.” Read more of his intriguing thoughts and revelations (how awesome is it that he’s a Battlestar Galactica fan?!).

Stay tuned… Lots more updates to come as the news flies fast and furious…
