What the LOSTies are doing on Summer vacation
April 23, 2009 by Robin Parrish
The break in between episodes this week got me to thinking about how there are only 3 more Wednesday nights remaining with new Lost episodes in all of 2009. We won’t see the 6th and final season until January 2010, and it will be much later this year before filming begins. So just what have Lost’s main cast members — past and present — been doing and what will they do with all that downtime?
Let’s have a look at what they’re up to, and where else they can be seen in the near future. (Note that Evangeline Lilly, Daniel Dae Kim, Terry O’Quinn, Henry Ian Cusick, Jeremy Davies, Ken Leung, and Michael Emerson are not currently listed as being involved in any other projects.)

A new video from ABC has turned up on YouTube, promoting this week’s episode 5.03 of Lost, entitled “Jughead.” It features actors Naveen Andrews (Sayid), Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet), and Michael Emerson (Ben) talking about time travel and Season 5 storylines. It also includes a few choice clips from last week’s season premiere.

Movieweb has posted 31 short soundbite videos online featuring the cast of Lost talking about Season 5, and you can watch them all online now. Or you can follow along as I embed each and every one of them right here at ApproachingLOST.com over the next three days, leading up to the Season premier Wednesday night!
The first batch features a couple of what I think are the show’s most compelling actors (and characters), Naveen Andrews (Sayid) and Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond). The first one is below, five more await you after the jump. And stay tuned for more videos later today, Tuesday, and Wednesday!

LOST’s Naveen Andrews wins custody battle
January 8, 2009 by Robin Parrish

TMZ.com reports that actor Naveen Andrews, who plays Sayid Jarrah on Lost (pictured here at an ABC event in May of 2007) left L.A. County Superior Court Wednesday afternoon with his three-year-old son Naveen Joshua, having been awarded sole custody of the child after the boy’s mother, Elena Eustache, allegedly traveled with him outside of L.A. County without permission. Andrews also claimed Eustache kept him from seeing his son.
Under the new provisional court order, Andrews is allowed to bring his son with him to Hawaii during filming of Lost. A full hearing is scheduled for February.
TMZ has a full report as well as photos.

What I Learned from the Season 4 DVD, Part 2
December 18, 2008 by Robin Parrish
Continuing the series I began last week, here are a few more tidbits I’ve picked up so far from viewing the extra features on the Season 4 DVD set:
- The 20-minute “Conspiracy of Lies” fake documentary reveals that Boone, Libby, and Charlie were the three survivors the Oceanic Six claimed died on the island, in their lie about the crash. I think this may have been mentioned somewhere before by the producers or someone connected to the show, but I can’t recall ever seeing official confirmation of it until now.
- The season finale, the three-part “There’s No Place Like Home,” began filming before the script was complete. During the filming of the scene of the Oceanic Six boarding the helicopter for the final time on the freighter (just before the freighter blows) actor Jorge Garcia says that at that point, he did not yet know how Hurley got to the freighter and escaped from the island.
- The writers used a series of maps and charts to determine and keep track of where all of the Oceanic Six were at different parts of the season, and how they would all end up escaping from the island together at the end.
- Though he speaks with a natural accent that uses the same cadences that he uses in the show, Henry Ian Cusick’s real voice is surprisingly different-sounding than Desmond’s. It’s a bit higher and less throaty. And most fans probably already know this, but Naveen Andrews sounds very different than Sayid (he’s also British, not Middle Eastern).

Lost Filming in Hawaii - Spoilers
October 3, 2008 by Nikki Katz

Lost has been doing some more filming in Hawaii this week! Thanks to Ryan at Hawaii Weblog for these great updates.
Two days ago they headed over to the Hawaii Medical Center East, a.k.a. St. Francis, in Kalihi. In front of the building there was Jack’s Ford Bronco, a blue Canton-Rainier Carpet Cleaning cargo van, and a Los Angeles Paramedics ambulance.
Matthew Fox, Naveen Andrews, and Michael Emerson were spotted on set. Jack talks into the phone. He says they need to get there “right now,” and jumps into his truck. Sayid and Ben stay put and have an intesne conversation. Eventually Sayid jumps into the driver’s side of the van, Ben climbs into the passenger’s seat, and they take off.
Later The Waikiki Yacht Club was transformed into the Long Beach Harbor Club for some evening shots. This time there were new vehicles on set. Still the same blue van, but now there was Kate’s silver Volvo, and a silver Jaguar S-Class. Evangeline Lilly, Yunjin Kim, and a young actor playing Aaron were filming.

What happened to you, your checkbook get lost?“
