The answer to that question — be it yes or no — is potentially spoiler material, so go no further if you don’t want to know!

BIG Jacob spoiler

BIG Jacob spoiler

I’m growing a bit averse to some of the spoilers that are starting to come out of the filming of Season 6 in Hawaii, because while the first few batch of spoiler reports told us things that weren’t all that surprising (if you’ve been paying attention), the latest reports are starting to spill details about the really big twists and turns that are coming. I’m probably going to avoid posting these bigger spoilers, out of respect to the show and the people who make it, though I may provide links from time to time so that you can find them …read more

Titus Welliver shares his theories on Jacob’s nemesis

Titus Welliver, the actor first seen in the Season 5 finale as Jacob’s unnamed nemesis, aka “Esau,” aka “Man No. 2,” before that character took on the form of John Locke, talked to TV Guide’s Matt Mitovich about the experience of filming that episode and what he thinks of the enigmatic “chess game” between Jacob and Man No. 2.
Read the full interview here, but here’s a quick summary of the juiciest bits to be gleaned from it:

Jacob’s nemesis definitely has a name, and it’s an important one. But Welliver doesn’t know what it is.
Welliver’s best and most intriguing theory: “…by …read more

LOST’s “Jacob” joins Supernatural cast

Entertainment Weekly reports that actor Mark Pellegrino, who was unveiled as Lost’s Jacob at the end of Season 5, is joining the cast of The CW’s Supernatural playing none other than Satan himself. (Hopefully he’s not being pigeonholed for playing rather spectral, non-human characters.)
If you’re wondering (and of course you are) if this means that Jacob’s time on Lost is over, and Jacob may really be dead after all… EW points out that Pellegrino’s status on Supernatural is as a recurring character, not a regular. So he should still have free time on his schedule in case some trips to …read more

It’s official: 4-toed statue is Egyptian goddess Taweret

It’s official: 4-toed statue is Egyptian goddess Taweret

The official recap for the Season 5 finale of Lost states unequivocally that the four-toed statue depicts the ancient Egyptian fertility goddess known as Taweret.
Taweret frequently carried an Ankh, just as the statue does on the show, which is the symbol of life. Though originally she was rooted in darkness, Taweret became more prominently known throughout history as a goddess of protection, particularly towards pregnant women (ironic, since modern day women on the island can’t give birth).
I can’t help thinking back to the hieroglyph we saw in “Dead is Dead,” when Ben entered the smoke monster’s lair under the Temple, …read more

New LOST ARG?: Who is Simeon Hobbes?

New LOST ARG?: Who is Simeon Hobbes?

Less than a day after the Season 5 finale of Lost aired, a new Alternate Reality Game seems to have been kicked off. Now it’s worth pointing out that none of this has been confirmed by ABC, and none of it has come through official channels. That said, if it’s a fake… it’s a very well executed one.
The game centers around a mystery figure named Simeon Hobbes, a Twitter user (@simeonhobbes) supposedly from Tunisia (wink, wink) who’s been posting cryptic messages that reference Egyptian mythology, Charles Widmore, and Jacob. Hobbes uses an Egyptian symbol called the Eye of Horus (pictured …read more

Jacob’s tapestry

Jacob’s tapestry

Still wondering what was written on that tapestry that Jacob wove together? The good folks over at the always-reliable Lostpedia managed to translate it from ancient Greek. It translates as:
May the gods grant thee all that thy heart desires.
However… There’s a bloke over at AudiblyLost.com who translated it a little differently:
May heaven grant you in all things your heart’s desire.
“Heaven” implies a single God, while “the gods” denotes multiples. So the distinction is a significant one. Which do you think is correct?
And am I the only one that finds it odd that the words were in ancient Greek, when everything …read more
