Harold Perrineau Talks More About His Lost Departure
June 2, 2008 by Nikki Katz
Harold Perrineau recently chatted about his unhappiness regarding his character’s fate on Lost.
Entertainment Weekly chatted with Perrineau after the interview to see if he would elaborate on those thoughts.
Perrineau says that he’s not bitter about Michael dying, but he is disappointed. “I thought he was going to have something just as significant when he came back. I was disappointed that he didn’t. He didn’t get to make amends with those people. And nobody got to see [him try to neutralize the bomb]. Walt didn’t get to see it. Jin got to see it, but wasn’t necessarily so mad at him. And Desmond, who Michael didn’t know at all, was there. I was disappointed more than anything, like the fans were disappointed. Like I think the fans were disappointed.”
As for going public with his feelings regarding his character being “black” and leaving his child fatherless, Perrineau says Read more
Harold Perrineau Not too Happy About His Exit
May 30, 2008 by Nikki Katz
TV Guide sat down with Harold Perrineau and chatted about his untimely exit from Lost.
Harold had no idea that his character was going to be killed off. “It’s like, what the hell? I came back for that?” Harold says. “I’m disappointed, mostly because I wanted Michael and Walt to have a happy ending. I was hoping Michael would get it together and actually want to be a father to his kid and try to figure out a way to get back [home]. But this is [the producers'] story. If I were writing it, I would write it differently.”
Harold says that Lindelof and Cuse called him before the final scripts were out to let him know that the Michael storyline was not going to continue. Harold thought it was a waste. “At this point, I’ve been on the island, off the island, back on the island — so I just went, “Oh, ok.” [Laughs] This is their show and they know what they can or cannot write. I thought it was disappointing and a waste to come back, only to get beat up a few times and then killed. I felt like it was sort of pandering to some fans who wanted to see Michael punished because he betrayed people.”
Harold admits his disappointment regarding Michael and Walt being unable to reconnect. He even goes so far to call it a bad black stereotype…

Lost - Michael Dawson on a Freighter
December 6, 2007 by Nikki Katz
It seems that some recent Lost Season 4 filming has resulted in the appearance of photographs from afar of Michael (Harold Perrineau) being filmed on a freighter…
Yes, freighters figure quite prominently into Lost at this point. Michael is without Walt and seems to be throwing something in the water. Is this the same freighter that Naomi’s people are on? Could this be a flashback to Michael’s escape from the grip of the island?

Lost - Filming Spoilers and Pictures

Lost - Episode Unknown
Filming Spoilers and Pictures
More pictures and possible spoilers from Ryan from Hawaii Blog. We’re not sure if this is for a mobisode, reshoot, or what, but they are continuing filming!!

Last night, my friend Ian reported seeing them setting up downtown. I wasn’t able to make the trek, but I was sure someone would catch them at work. Sure enough, I got an email from Brian and his friend Joel this morning. (I last crossed paths with Brian downtown last November during shooting for a big Desmond scene.) Here’s what they saw:
“They were shooting a bunch of scenes with Harold Perrineau coming out of a NYC apartment building, getting in a green car, reading some folded paper that he pulled out of his pocket, and speeding away in his car down the street.”
A brief scene, to be sure, but it obviously connects to the New York scene they filmed a few blocks away on Nov. 15. Note that the green Dodge Aspen that Michael was driving last night was also part of that earlier shoot, where I’d picked up talk of a car crash. I knew the car wasn’t long for this world (thanks to the friend of a friend of a Dodge Aspen owner), but I didn’t know until now that it was Michael behind the wheel.

Lost - Filming in NYC
November 18, 2007 by Nikki Katz
Lost headed to NYC for some more filming.
The production returned to Chapin Lane (which previously played Bangkok in a Jack flashback) and the area around Mark’s Garage to recreate the Big Apple. Streets were lit up with the Christmas spirit, and people bundled up for the imaginary winter cold. The omnipresent green newsstand was also standing by. A narrow alley, a busy street, a New York Yellow Cab. What could possibly happen here?
As it turns out, the “where” and “what” weren’t the half of it. It’s the “who” that’s the real surprise. Over the course of the evening, I and another “LOST” fan who lived in the apartment building across the street spotted a veritable parade of familiar faces. Harold Perrineau seemed to be the center of attention, which is hardly a surprise since we’ve seen him in Manhattan. Indeed, his clean cut look suggests that this is a flashback. But who should he meet in a narrow alley, but one M.C. Gainey. And it’s not a friendly encounter, either, involving a gun, and a fistfight. The sounds of the confrontation echo down Honolulu streets.
And what’s this? A car crash?

Harold Perrineau Interview
August 9, 2007 by Nikki Katz
Here are some highlights from a recent Entertainment Weekly interview with Harold Perrineau:
So the show keeps everything a real secret, even to the cast?
That’s what I was telling everyone during the first two years: We really don’t know until it happens. I think people thought we were lying, but that’s the total truth. We just don’t know. Most of the time it works out for them. Most people are available; we all want to be on the show, but in that instance it didn’t work out.
Did you know since you left that you would come back?
The idea was [Michael] was coming back, because he didn’t die. [He and his son] jumped on a boat. So the question was always how and/or when he’d come back.
Is it just that they don’t want to chance having any leaks so they don’t even tell you guys what’s going on?
That’s exactly what it is. I understand they have enough people who leak information and put it online, so when stuff happens, it’s not such a big surprise, and if it’s not such a big surprise, the show isn’t as interesting. I think that’s part of the reason they don’t talk about it too much.
At Comic-Con, you said you thought there was a good chance Michael was in the coffin in the season finale —
I actually didn’t say that. People asked, ”Who’s in the coffin?” So [producers] Carlton [Cuse] and Damon [Lindelof] looked at me and said, ”Well, Harold, who do you think is in the coffin? So I made a joke about how the whole time I actually thought Michael was in the coffin. But my wife told me how online [she read] about how Jack showed Kate the article in the newspaper about the person who died, and it says that the person in the coffin who died was from New York and that the only person he left alive was his teenage son, which led me to believe, and I guess led many other people to believe, that it was Michael who died. He’s from New York, he has a teenaged son — depending on how far forward that is. That whole flash-forward thing, we don’t fully understand yet.
What do you think of their deal to do a final three seasons with a set number of episodes per season?
I think that’s an excellent idea. It’s a much better idea than the show being a really big hit and then they have to keep it on for 10 years and suddenly we see episodes about Sawyer and, like, the spoon he made. Ya know what I mean? [Laughs] I think it’s much better, because they’ve always said they had an idea of how long the show would go, so I’m glad they’re going to just do that and finish telling the story. I mean, it’s great to have a job forever, but this kind of job, it had its own thing going, so you can’t really consider it like you consider most television shows.
Did you get tight as a cast?
It became a lot like that until people started to find their way on the island. The first year or so, we only had each other, so we became close. The show became a huge phenomenon — nobody expected that. It was strange, but we all understood, because it was happening to all of us, and that made us a lot closer. We lived on different parts of the island, and as we became more ingrained in our communities, we didn’t hang as much as we did that first season. It just became regular, and people come and go, which changes things a lot, too. But we all sort of bonded forever because of that [first season].
Harold Perrineau Talks About Coming Back
August 9, 2007 by Nikki Katz
Harold Perrineau says his return to Lost in Season 4 was planned In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Perrineau talked about what his time was like away from Lost and how he feels about coming back to the show. In the process he dropped at least one subtle hint as to what the future of his character may be when Lost returns in February.
Since Harold’s return has become official, the question has been will he be on the island, or will he be utilized in the series’ new flash forward device. At Comicon there was much talk of Lost’s capacity for redemption of its characters, and having Michael face the people he betrayed in order to get his son back is way too good of a dynamic to ignore.
What Harold does reveal is that he is going back to Hawaii full time and will become a series regular ala season 1 and season 2. With the fact being released that Lost will feature both flashbacks and flash forwards, it would stand to reason that Michael will be seen in the present day strand of Lost, probably with a flash back of what happened after he followed Ben’s route to ‘rescue.’

Michael Returns?!?
July 26, 2007 by Nikki Katz
Could Michael be returning to Lost? The news sounds promising, but we have no idea how he will be returning. Could it be a flash forward or flashback? Will he be on the island or elsewhere in the world?
ABC’s press tour kicked off today and started out with Stephen McPherson saying that some major Lost news was coming… at Comic Con. Luckily, the reporters pounced on McPherson, calling him a fanboy lover (okay I made that up), until he rescued from the wings by a mystery woman (no word on whether she was in black leather or not) who gave him the okay directly from Carlton and Damon to let loose one nugget of information. Harold Perrineau is definitely rejoining the cast.
