Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello has posted a brief, but potentially ginormous, bit of casting scoopage.

Dexter’s Mark Pellegrino has been cast in a pivotal role on Lost. What might that role be? Well, Ausiello doesn’t know for certain, but he’s hearing rumblings that Pellegrino is playing (highlight to read MAJOR spoiler) Jacob in “an off-island, circa-’70s flashback involving some very familiar faces.”

Watch for him in the season finale. Ausiello also provides one of his infamous asterisk teases about who Pellegrino shares screen time with. Remember, all of this apart from Pellegrino’s casting on the show falls under the category of “unconfirmed rumor” — including what role he plays. But Ausiello’s insider info has a good batting average.

Thanks to the ever-reliable Lyly Ford Blog, we now have the full press releases (including loglines, writers, and guest cast lists) for every remaining episode this season except the finale! Needless to say, there are major spoilers ahead, which provide strong indications of where things are heading as the season hurtles towards its conclusion. (There’s some MAJOR, GINORMOUS stuff ahead, folks!) Still, those who don’t want hints of any kind about what’s coming: steer clear. You’ve been warned!

E! Online’s Watch with Kristin says that a major character death is coming before the end of Season 5. She seems to know more than she’s saying, but she gives the following hints:

• The character is played by a series regular.
• The death will be permanent, and not like John Locke’s recent death-and-rebirth.
• The character who dies is a fan-favorite.
• It’s not Kate.

Kristin also says that the actor in question knew nothing of this death until last week. Read between the lines and it sounds to these ears like Kristin is hinting that the death will likely occur in the season finale. But the revelation that it’s a fan-favorite character isn’t exactly revealing — there isn’t a single character currently on the show who’s not a favorite of the fans.

So… any theories on who it might be?

Whoa, I see at least one major spoiler for Desmond and Penny fans in this latest ABC promo video for Season 5. Lost returns January 21st, but here’s some titillating new footage for those of us who just can’t wait that long. (Perhaps best of all, The Fray’s song “You Found Me” is nowhere to be found.)

Filming Spoilers

Lost was spotted filming again at the campus of Windward Community College in Kaneohe this week where they shot a scene at the Santa Rosa Mental Institute.

Ryan at Hawaii blog shares this report from Grappler:

• Hurley relaxes on the hospital grounds. He sits on a bench and paints.
• Locke arrives. He’s in a wheelchair with a cast on his right leg.
• They begin speaking. Hurley jumps up and calls out to someone named Susie. He asks her, “Am I talking to a guy in a wheelchair right now?” She affirms that Locke is in fact there.
• Hurley sits down and they continue talking. Locke gestures over his shoulder.
• Hurley jumps up again and says, “What? Don’t you know? He’s evil!”
• Hurley sticks his fingers in his years and begins yelling. “I’m not hearing this! This is not happening!”
• He calls for Susie and says, “I’m ready to go back now!”
• Susie takes Hurley back into the hospital.

BuddyTV has some recent spoilers from the Lost set in Hawaii. A recent scene was being filmed with Jack, Ben, Sun and Desmond. Ben, Sun and Jack were using the same Canton Rainier van as in the previous scenes. Sun and Ben are talking and Ben pulls something out of his bag to give to Sun. Desmond arrives on scene and they all run into the building.

Everyone appears to be easily working with Ben - no animosity. Desmond is wearing a wedding ring! And Sun is carrying a gun.

Lost has been doing some more filming in Hawaii this week! Thanks to Ryan at Hawaii Weblog for these great updates.

Two days ago they headed over to the Hawaii Medical Center East, a.k.a. St. Francis, in Kalihi. In front of the building there was Jack’s Ford Bronco, a blue Canton-Rainier Carpet Cleaning cargo van, and a Los Angeles Paramedics ambulance.

Matthew Fox, Naveen Andrews, and Michael Emerson were spotted on set. Jack talks into the phone. He says they need to get there “right now,” and jumps into his truck. Sayid and Ben stay put and have an intesne conversation. Eventually Sayid jumps into the driver’s side of the van, Ben climbs into the passenger’s seat, and they take off.

Later The Waikiki Yacht Club was transformed into the Long Beach Harbor Club for some evening shots. This time there were new vehicles on set. Still the same blue van, but now there was Kate’s silver Volvo, and a silver Jaguar S-Class. Evangeline Lilly, Yunjin Kim, and a young actor playing Aaron were filming.

Kristin at E!Online gives us some scoop on Jin’s perceived death.

“They’re going to make us sweat out the fate of Jin. We won’t see him at all for the first three episodes, and it’s not until episodes four and five that we’ll really understand what happened to him when the freighter exploded.” Well that’s not good!

Kristin also says that Jin will be found floating on a door in the ocean. Hmmm, sounds like that’s what the pool filming was all about! Well at least we can tie that together.

Thanks to HaleiwaDiva@LostTV-Forum for this great account of filming spoilers, near the Honolulu airport last week. It is supposedly for Episode 5.04, which should be airing in early February.

• Sayid and Ben are in a van with a carpet cleaning logo on the side. Sayid is driving while Ben rides shot gun.
• Sayid is wearing a white tank top with long pants. Ben wore a dark long sleeve shirt and long dark pants.
• The van drives up a ramp into to a covered parking area followed by a black BMW 740. Both cars have California license plates.
• The cars are sprayed with water by the crew, so that they appear as if they have just driven through the rain.
• Inside the parking structure the van pulls into an empty parking space. The BMW follows the van up the ramp and pulls in backwards so that the cars are side by side, but facing opposite directions.
• The chauffeur of the BMW talks to Ben through the window.
• Jack is also in the scene, wearing a tank top and jeans. His hair is long & messy and he has the beard like before.
